Install LibreOffice 3.4.5 on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot/Linux Mint

Install LibreOffice 3.4.5 on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot/Linux Mint 12 Lisa

A quick update for Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot users: the latest LibreOffice 3.4.5 is available in its official PPA.

The new version comes with many bug fixes, including a fix for horizontal scrollbars with KDE oxygen style and many fixed crashes. The changelog also mentions that Impress 3D transitions should work again, but they didn't work in my test (install the "libreoffice-ogltrans" package to try them).

To install/upgrade to LibreOffice 3.4.5 in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, use the following commands:
  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
  • sudo apt-get update
  • sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Now to make it appear a tad nicer under your desktop environment of choice: -
Ubuntu users should run:
  • sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gnome

Kubuntu users should run:
  • sudo apt-get install libreoffice-kde

That's it
